【英文定義】

Rheumatoid arthritis

A chronic systemic disease, primarily of the joints, marked by inflammatory changes in the synovial membranes and articular structures, widespread fibrinoid degeneration of the collagen fibers in mesenchymal tissues, and by atrophy and rarefaction of bony structures. Etiology is unknown, but autoimmune mechanisms have been implicated.

【概述:】

類風濕性關節炎（Rheumatoid arthritis）是一種廣泛且頑固的慢性疾病，病況輕微時僅怠到局部關節僵硬疼痛，嚴重時則會引起全身的關節腫脹疼痛及損壞，甚至造成殘障。這個病起因於身體內抵抗病菌的「捍衛戰士」（我們稱做免疫系統）發生問題，產生許多不必要的抗體（自體抗體，如類風濕性因子ＲＦ），不僅會殺死病菌，同時也破壞身體正常的結構。最常侵犯的部位是四肢小關節，其次是肌肉 、肺、皮膚、血管、神經、眼睛等，因此可算是一種全身性的疾病。
